Not strong enough to support a Wescott ladder
Before I purchased these struts to support the addition of a Westcott ladder (on my 4runner) in April, I called to make sure which level of strength I needed. I was told this model was sufficient to support the Wescott ladder. A couple months later I email customer service as the struts were hardly any better than the stock struts. They did keep the hatch open better but I still had to use a lot of arm strength just to open the hatch, especially after rain. I was basically told I should buy the stronger struts, even though I was given poor advice to purchase these struts a couple months before. Zero customer service and accountability and I'm still getting a workout every time I open my hatch. Save yourself the trouble and buy the stronger struts if you have any doubt.

Replacement Strut
Ordered this unit to replace an earlier purchase of the same identical unit that failed. A pair of these struts easily supports my 4Runner tailgate with a ladder attached. Shipping was very fast, and the unit was at my local FedEx in less than 24 hours ( though they saw they were a day ahead of schedule and elected to sit on it for a day).
